Working in the IT industry can be stressful. This is why me and my husband always make it a point to have a road trip every other week, to de-stress and at the same time discover places we've never visited before.

For this road trip, we decided to visit the highest peak of Cebu - Osmeña Peak in Dalaguete and explore other destinations within the municipality like Sergio's Strawberry Farm and Obong Cold Spring.

1. OSMEÑA PEAK

Flashback when we're still in college, Vic and I climbed Mt. Agad Agad in Iligan. It was a difficult climb, and exhausting too, so when we tried climbing Osmeña Peak, we were surprised on how easy the trail was. It was in fact the coolest trail we've ever done, and the most scenic too!

Travel Tip #7: The trail can be slippery, so always wear proper mountain climbing shoes or any closed, non-slip shoes. Don't be like me. :) Also, wear comfy clothes or preferably long sleeved shirts to protect yourself from insect bites:)

GETTING THERE

Dalaguete is 2.5-3 hours away from Cebu proper. Once you reach Dalaguete, after the bridge, turn right and just follow the road until you will reach Mantalongon Market. From there, you are a few minutes away from the Osmeña Peak registration site. You can hire a habal-habal driver to bring you to the registration area for as low as PHP 100. Registration fee is PHP 20 per person which covers the environmental fee. You also have the option to hire a guide to take you to the peak. In our case, we hired a local guide and paid her PHP 500 pesos for the tour. It is also one way for us to support the people in the community.

No words can explain how beautiful / relaxing it is to be up here.

2. SERGIO'S STRAWBERRY FARM

We have heard about Sergio's Strawberry Farm in Maloray, Dalaguete. So out of curiosity, we decided to check the place and see an actual strawberry farm for the first time.

Sergio's Strawberry Farm is the first strawberry plantation in Cebu. So as expected, a lot of tourists swarmed the place. The farm does not only have strawberries, they also grow other kinds of vegetables such as tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, etc.

The road going to the farm is a bit challenging and dangerous. There were areas which I think is prone to landslides and the road is quite slippery (it was a bit raining when we went there). You need to focus on your driving. Fortunately, we reached our destination safely.

Once again, we hired a guide to tour us around the farm. We paid PHP 50 each for the entrance fee. We were not lucky though since there weren't enough strawberries for harvesting, so we just took photos of the place and didn't stay for so long. We then headed back to Dalaguete town proper to visit our third and final destination of the day.

3. DALAGUETE COLD SPRING

Our last stop was Obong Cold Spring. We were pretty surprised that this even existed in Dalaguete since we have not heard about it. We just happen to see a sign along the road about the cold spring, so we went there, not knowing what to expect of the place.

First impression - I love the location. The place is conveniently located along the side of the road. There were cottages for rental and mini food stalls were put up so you can buy drinks and snacks. We paid PHP 25 for the entrance fee and another PHP 20 for the parking. Here are some photos we took of the place.
